COLLECTION OF DATA OF MAKING AADHAR AND PAN MANDATORY FOR TREASURIES.

Reg: Amendments made under Prevention of Money-Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 - Making Aadhar and PAN mandatory.


  1. We invite your attention to the aforesaid notification dated 01.06.17 issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, bearing No. G.S.R.538(E), being the Prevention of Money-Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules 2017, wherein both Aadhar and PAN have been made mandatory for existing as well as to new accounts to be opened under NPS  (being an account based relationship).

  2. Accordingly all existing subscribers and new subscribers under the aforesaid pension schemes are required to be informed to submit their Aadhar and PAN by 31.12.2017 to the CRA so that the same can be seeded in the CRA system, falling which all such NPS accounts would cease to be operational till the time Aadhar number and PAN is submitted.

  3. It is therefore, requested that your good office issue a specific advisory to all nodal offices under your jurisdiction providing the information as provided above and advising all nodal offices to collect and forward Aadhar and PAN for all NPS accounts which are being serived by them. Also, where a subscriber who does not have PAN then, form No. 60 may be collected and the information be send to CRA so that PRAN is made compliant of the requirements and the account is not suspended.
